As luck would have it, a good cleaning was all my original CD required to get it going. Go figured. Now I’m doing the slow painful process of getting it up to Service Pack 2, since mine is one of the first released discs. Happy days.
Project: Windows XP
Looks like I’m going to be installing Windows XP on my computer, yet again. Despite owning a legal copy, I’ve had to resort to making a copy of the same thing that I already have from someone else. My copy has a scratch which is preventing installation of a few files, and I’m hoping that I can put the copy in and grab the files from there.
Hopefully it all works out OK. The only issue I have now is that I can’t find my original CD. I’ve got all the upgrade path discs, license keys from the packages, every little Microsoft hoop I need to jump through just to get an OS on my computer.
So now I gotta go digging around my room searching for a CD.
* Right after I wrote this, I found the CD straight away.
Scott Baio Gave Me Pink Eye
Obviously he didn’t really. This is a quote from the show South Park, during their first season when Cartman got abducted by aliens. I’m not the only one who got that gag stuck in their head, either. Googling that line brings up more blog posts from people with conjunctivitis than actual information on the episode.
Ironically, that is also why I titled my post with it – because I’ve inadvertently gotten pink-eye. I’ve got these drops which the doctor prescribed and they’re working pretty good so far.
